Review six areas

Area Questions to ask
Academics Am I attending, submitting work, understanding grades and using help early?
Time Are sleep, class, study, work and activities fitting into a realistic week?
Money Are the account balance, aid, meal spending and personal budget under control?
Housing Are the roommate agreement, cleaning, maintenance and guest expectations working?
Health Are sleep, meals, medication, stress and physical health being addressed?
Community Do I have at least one recurring place, group or person where I am known?

Turn problems into actions

  1. Name the three highest-impact problems.
  2. Give each problem an owner: you, professor, counselor, RA, Housing, Financial Aid, SDS, Technical Support or another office.
  3. Choose one concrete next action for each problem.
  4. Give every action a deadline.
  5. Tell a trusted person what you are doing.
  6. Recheck progress after seven days.
