Commuter plan
- Confirm your parking permit, assigned area and current transportation plan.
- Count driving, parking and walking as real schedule time.
- Pack food, water, medication, chargers and all-day supplies.
- Plan the return trip before evening events.
- Use tutoring, health, recreation, clubs and campus events just like residential students.
- Build at least one regular on-campus connection so commuting does not become academic isolation.

- Add class and realistic study time before accepting shifts.
- Add commute, meals, sleep and recovery to the schedule.
- Give the employer unavailable class times before the term starts.
- Confirm the weekly-hour limit, FWS/NFWS designation and schedule in the live posting and hiring documents; limits can vary by role, funding and student status.
- Avoid closing shifts before early classes when possible.
- Reduce work or other commitments when grades, sleep, health or safety decline for two weeks.
